Aquarium

A slender, mottled grey-and-pink column with a pitted, dotted surface rises through the center of the canvas, flanked by a pale cream diagonal at lower left. Around it, a mosaic of deep blue, violet, maroon and teal cells fills the field, with a small patch of green in the upper right breaking the cool scheme.

Heavy acrylic impasto over the ivory ground creates a crusted, coral-like texture on the central form, contrasted with smoother, cracked planes of color elsewhere. The cool violet-blue palette, deepened by near-black grout lines, gives the surface a submerged, quietly dreamlike hush, as if seen through still water.
