"Lesbos"

Rounded, cloud-like mounds in pale flesh tones spread horizontally across the canvas, suggesting one or more reclining nude bodies merged into a single undulating form. Faint impressions of hands and a row of small footprints run along the lower edge, the only clearly legible details in an otherwise abstracted mass of soft, bulging shapes.

The surface is built up in a thick, sculpted paste ground, giving every form a raised, bas-relief texture beneath a soft wash of dusty blue and blush pink. Diffuse, even light flattens the contours into a dreamlike haze rather than sharp anatomy, and the overall effect is tactile and sensuous, closer to weathered stone than paint.
