About this work
The canvas is organized into irregular flat blocks of color separated by thick black contour lines, loosely echoing a horizon with layered bands across the upper half and broader shapes below. No recognizable objects, figures or landscape details appear; the arrangement reads as pure color and shape, its zones shifting scale and rhythm across the surface.
Deep blues and teals dominate, set against a hot red-orange block, chalky whites and a lilac patch, all built up with thick, textured paint that catches light unevenly across the ivory ground. The heavy, tactile surface and stark tonal contrasts give the image a hazy, unstable quality, as if the shapes could shift or dissolve, matching the shimmering illusion suggested by the title.
