What is Academart?
Academart is an international digital platform dedicated to academic fine art. It brings together artists, collectors, researchers, educators, students and everyone interested in the traditions of academic painting and drawing.
The platform features works by students and graduates of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, as well as academic studies from the B. V. Ioganson Art Lyceum.
One of Academart's primary missions is to build a structured digital archive of the academic artistic heritage of the B. V. Ioganson Art Lyceum and the Ilya Repin Academy of Arts.
The project preserves, organizes and promotes outstanding educational artworks, documenting the artistic development of several generations of professionally trained artists. Visitors can follow an artist's creative journey from early academic studies to graduation projects and independent professional work.
At the same time, Academart provides contemporary artists with an international audience while enabling collectors to discover new talent, build personal virtual collections, acquire original artworks and commission new works directly from participating artists.
Academart combines the functions of an online gallery, a digital archive, a virtual collecting platform and a meeting place for artists, collectors and art enthusiasts.
Who can publish artworks on Academart?
Academart primarily represents current students and graduates of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
Every application undergoes a curatorial review to ensure that the artistic quality and professional standards of the platform remain consistently high.
In exceptional cases, the Academart team may invite artists outside the Repin Academy to join the platform as Guest Artists.
Such invitations are extended only after professional review when the artist's skill, artistic vision and body of work align with Academart's concept, quality standards and curatorial direction.
How do I become a collector?
Anyone can become a collector by creating a free Academart account.
By adding artworks to your favourites, your personal virtual collection is created automatically.
Collectors can personalise their profile by adding:
- a profile photo;
- their name;
- a short biography;
- a few words about their artistic interests and collecting preferences.
A virtual collection does not represent ownership of artworks. It is a personal selection of favourite works that reflects your artistic taste and can be shared with other visitors.
What is the difference between a collector and a buyer?
Not every collector purchases artworks.
Many people use Academart simply to discover artists, study academic art and build a personal virtual collection.
Whenever you decide to acquire an artwork or commission a new one, Academart helps establish communication with the artist.
Can I purchase artworks?
Yes. Many artworks presented on Academart are available for acquisition.

You may:
