About this work
The canvas resolves into soft rectangles of tone rather than legible objects: a pale, glowing block at upper right reads as a window or lit wall, a darker grid of grey and mauve fills the left half suggesting a floor or partition, and a warm strip along the bottom edge implies a sill or threshold. No figures or furniture are distinguishable.
Paint is applied in soft, diffused patches with almost no hard edges, as if the whole scene were seen out of focus; muted greys, dusty rose and pale cream blend into one another under an even, flat light. The effect is quiet and ambiguous, closer to an abstract study of light than a descriptive view of a studio interior.
