About this work
Two nude figures are pressed into a tight embrace: a bearded man with wild curly hair buries his face against a heavier woman, whose arm curls around his shoulders as she gazes past him. Cropped close within the square sheet, their overlapping limbs and torsos fuse into a single compact silhouette, with only a hand and bent knee breaking free at the edges.
Loose, urgent contour lines in black ink construct the figures with almost no shading beyond hatching and pooled washes, while flicks and spatters of ink scatter across the lower corner. The drawing feels spontaneous and unresolved, its raw calligraphic strokes giving the embrace a tense, charged energy rather than tenderness.
