About this work
Vertical stripes of ochre, rust and cream wallpaper fill the frame, broken at center by a round dark switch plate with a knob and two screw holes, a thin drip mark trailing below it. Above and to the lower right, two pale circular outlines interrupt the pattern, cleaner than the surrounding wall, where other fixtures once hung and have since been removed.
The striped wallpaper is built from soft, layered pastel strokes in warm rust and cream, with crisp shading modeling the rounded volume of the switch against the flat pattern. Rendered close and cropped, the image turns an ordinary fixture and its faded traces into a quiet, melancholic study of absence on a domestic wall.
