About this work

A round black socket or connector fitting is set into a wall covered with striped, floral-patterned wallpaper in soft green and pink tones. A single cable descends vertically from the top edge of the canvas to meet the fixture, which sits slightly left of center with no other objects in the frame.

The composition is dominated by the decorative wallpaper's fine pattern, rendered with as much care as the dark, weathered fitting itself. Soft, diffuse light and delicate pastel strokes describe the faded floral motif, while the small utilitarian object interrupts the ornamental surface with a quiet, contemplative note.
