About this work
A round, star-slatted ventilation grille in dull bronze sits at the center of the composition, mounted flush against a wall covered in pale green striped wallpaper printed with small pink blossoms and leaves. Two thin grey wires hang from the grille's lower edge, running down almost to the bottom of the sheet.
Worked in soft pastel, the surface contrasts the warm bronze tones of the metal grille with cool mint greens and chalky pinks of the wallpaper pattern, blended with a delicate, powdery texture. The symmetrical framing and decorative backdrop give the humble fixture a quiet, nostalgic stillness.
