About this work
A dome-shaped bell housing, pale grey with a dark round base, is fixed to a wall covered in an ornate green damask pattern. A single cable enters from the upper left and runs to a small junction box just above the fixture, which sits alone at the center of the composition.
The palette stays close to sage green and off-white, with the bell's cool grey standing out softly against the busy wallpaper motif. Even, diffuse light and fine pastel modeling describe the curved metal surface, while the decorative ground pattern is rendered almost as precisely as the object itself, giving the image a hushed, contemplative quality.
