About this work
Three low concrete traffic barriers, painted with diagonal black-and-yellow stripes, stand on a rain-marked asphalt street beside a zebra crosswalk. A red circular no-entry sign and a pedestrian traffic light rise on poles nearby, and behind them a building facade is banded in teal, orange-red brick and lime-green trim, with faint graffiti tags along its base.
Strong flat blocks of teal, mustard-yellow, orange and black are rendered with graphic, poster-like clarity, while scumbled grey washes suggest wet pavement and give the ground a scratchy, worn texture. The saturated architectural color scheme against the utilitarian grey street produces a lively, faintly gritty urban energy.
