About this work

A sagging wooden log house is shored up by heavy diagonal timber props wedged against its corner, while two tall utility poles strung with looping wires rise beside it. Carved window surrounds, a corrugated roof and a small brick chimney vent are visible along the weathered facade, with a wooden fence and patch of grass in the foreground.

Rendered mostly in scratchy pencil and ink line, the drawing is left largely monochrome with sparing touches of rust, teal and ochre color pencil on the roof, windows and wires. The tangle of wooden braces and cables cutting across the sky gives the sketch a documentary, slightly precarious feel.
