Series "Artist and model"

Two nude figures are seated and tightly folded into each other, limbs and torsos overlapping until the bodies nearly merge into one dense mass at the centre of the sheet. One face, lined and heavy-browed, tilts down from above while a second, smoother face with closed eyes rests just beneath it, their arms and legs interlocking below.

Loaded brush strokes of Indian ink build thick, ragged outlines punctuated by scratchy hatching and a scatter of flicked droplets to the left. The composition leaves large areas of white paper untouched around the huddled pair, so the eye is pulled to the dense, almost violent knot of black lines where the two bodies meet, producing a tense, charged atmosphere.
