About this work
An ornate urn, its rounded body covered in small tiled panels of blue, orange and cream, holds a loose bouquet of white poppies, daisies and slender grass stems. Curling worm-like forms hang from its handles, and pebbles and shell fragments scatter along the ground beneath a star-flecked dark sky.
Deep teal and near-black tones dominate the ground, set off by the pale, finely hatched white of the flowers and warm ochre accents on the urn. Dense, exacting linework describes every petal and tile, giving the still life a hushed, faintly eerie richness.
