About this work

A young woman in a draped white gown and gold collar sits sideways on a large white bull, one sandaled foot braced against its shoulder. The bull's head fills the lower right, horns curving upward. Behind them a meadow scattered with tiny blue and white flowers stretches to a line of dark trees, where robed women stand among the trunks, arms raised, with the sea visible beyond.

Cool blues and whites dominate the palette, the meadow rendered in dense pointillist dabs that contrast with the smoother, more finished figures. Soft, even light gives the scene a flat, tapestry-like quality without strong shadow. The mood is calm and dreamlike, treating the myth as a quiet ceremonial procession.
