About this work
A bulbous green urn at the center holds an overflowing bouquet of bearded irises, daisies and feathery greenery, flanked by two tall amber and rose glass bottles each sprouting a spray of small white bell flowers. Miniature objects, a snail, a tiny bird, small house-shaped ornaments, cluster along a stone ledge at the base amid scattered pebbles.
Deep teal-blue ground shifts to turquoise and olive around the massed flowers, with white, cream and pale orange for the blossoms and glass. Fine engraved lines describe every petal and facet while flat color washes fill the larger shapes, giving the sheet a patterned, folk-decorative, dreamlike richness.
