About this work
In a dense woodland stream, nude figures react in panic: at left two spotted hounds seize a figure fallen in the shallows, while a central figure with a single horn on the brow wades forward, arms extended. To the right, three more nudes recoil, shielding their faces and crying out, one turning her bare back to the viewer amid the greenery.
Thick, urgent brushstrokes in dark forest green and umber frame flushed pink and coral flesh tones, with red streaks suggesting blood and violence. Paint is scraped, dripped and dragged across the canvas, and pale scrawled text at the top adds a raw, graffiti-like note. The mood is tense and dramatic, evoking an unwilling encounter frozen in a single instant.
