About this work
In a dense green jungle a horned, tusked creature with a blood-stained snout looms over a crouching muscular figure rendered in ochre tones. In the foreground a body wrapped in red-striped fabric lies face-down at the water's edge. A blue-and-yellow parrot perches at the upper right, and a hazy sun glows through the foliage at upper left.
Heavy greens and dark browns fill the tangled vegetation, set off by the creature's grey-green hide, the warm ochre figure and small bursts of red and blue. Loose, gestural brushwork with dripping paint and scratchy black outlines builds a chaotic texture, giving the scene a violent, unsettling intensity.
