About this work
A striding, part-human, part-dragon or lizard-headed figure dominates the sheet, wearing striped red, yellow and blue armor-like garments and pointed red boots, one arm reaching forward. Loosely sketched in fine pencil-like line around it are a horned or crowned horse skull, a crouching wolf or hyena, a long-necked heron, and indistinct animal and architectural forms, with a red sun in the upper corner.
The work is built from fine etched lines left mostly in sepia monochrome, with the central figure picked out in flat washes of red, yellow and blue. The dense, nervous linework and half-finished background give it an unsettling, chaotic energy suited to an apocalyptic battle scene.
