About this work
A fleshy, contorted nude form with two rounded heads - one blue-violet, one flesh-toned - crouches low in the foreground, limbs splayed across a bare floor. Behind it, a table and chairs lie toppled over, and a wall of flame and smoke fills the upper half of the sheet, with a discarded purple garment at left.
Etched contour lines are washed with soft ochre, rose and grey-blue tints on cream paper, the loose, sketchy line work left partly open at the edges. The awkward, doubled anatomy and licking flames create a violent, chaotic energy consistent with the destruction named in its title.
