Southern grass I

An ochre-toned bull is caught mid-leap, body arched across the upper half of the canvas, while a nude figure somersaults over its back, legs curling skyward; to the left a standing figure grips the bull's horn, to the right another reaches toward the animal, both painted in the same ruddy brown as the bull. The lower half dissolves into a dense meadow of grass stems and small lavender-blue flowers.

Ochre, tan and dusty blue dominate under a pale grey sky, the bull's musculature built with thick, ridged strokes catching light along its flank, outlines dark and calligraphic. The impression is kinetic and charged, a burst of energy within an otherwise still, textured field.
