About this work
A slender standing figure, rendered in warm ochre and yellow tones, dominates the composition, one arm raised toward a swirl of white overhead that suggests a hat or parasol. Around her, dark teal and grey passages break into loose geometric fragments hinting at a bicycle frame and other beach paraphernalia, while pale strokes below suggest sand.
Paint is applied almost sculpturally, in thick ridges of impasto scraped and layered with a palette knife, leaving the forms only half-resolved. The clash of cool blue-greens against hot yellows and reds creates a charged, sunlit shimmer, and the fractured brushwork gives the beach scene an energetic, almost frantic vibrancy.
