About this work
A woman leans forward with hair and a light top whipped sideways by an unseen wind, her bare torso and midriff caught in warm golden light. Sweeping white and pale strokes shoot outward from her body across the right of the canvas, suggesting motion and rushing air. The figure is anchored at lower left while the rest of the space opens into a bright, airy void.
Warm ochre, gold and peach dominate the palette, animated by long dragged strokes of white and touches of teal and black. Paint is applied with loose, gestural energy, often scraped and streaked rather than blended, leaving the figure partly resolved. The dynamic brushwork and bright, sunlit color give the picture a buoyant, energetic feel.
