About this work
Two vertical panels, side by side, each cut by a sharp diagonal band into an upper and lower half. In both, an armored, helmeted figure built from stacked mechanical and architectural shapes fills the top, while an inverted torso covered in circular emblems and patterning occupies the bottom, as if two halves of a playing-card figure had been reassembled.
The left panel is printed in warm sepia on ochre ground, the right in dense black ink, both built from meticulous etched cross-hatching. The dense ornamental surfaces and doubled, upside-down anatomy give the pair a hermetic, puzzle-like strangeness.
