About this work
A diagonal mass of rust-orange and warm brown cuts across the canvas from upper right, set against a paler cream and grey ground scored with rows of illegible scratched script. Scattered marks, small triangular fragments, and faint grid lines fill the lower portion, while no recognizable object or figure emerges from the composition.
The surface combines dry scumbled cream and beige with denser, more saturated passages of burnt orange and umber, built up and scraped back to expose earlier layers. Rough incised writing and hatching add a restless, notational quality, and the warm color shift from pale to rust gives the piece a smoldering, weighted presence.
