About this work
A thin coppery ring is set into a flat black band across the top edge, above tall vertical streaks of red, cobalt blue and cream that fall like curtains toward a second black band at the bottom. Between them, a dark, heavily textured core runs down the center, flanked by diagonal red streaks lower right and a small disc motif in the bottom left.
Acrylic is worked into a rough, perforated crust over the ivory ground, its dark central band pitted like corroded metal. Saturated reds and blues drip and streak downward against the black frame, and the small glowing ring at top reads like a sun or moon caught mid-eclipse, lending the whole a heavy, dramatic charge.
