About this work
The canvas is filled with dense clusters of pink and white blossoms rising through green foliage, likely flowering willow-herb, seen close-up as if standing among the plants themselves. No horizon or sky intrudes; the whole surface is given over to overlapping stems, leaves, and flower heads.
Built from thick, dragged impasto in pink, magenta, olive, and white, with darker green passages anchoring the lower corners, the paint is worked wet-into-wet so blossoms blur into one another. Light seems to pour in from above, bleaching the upper portion, giving the whole a soft, immersive quality.
