About this work
Two young women stand close together in a field thick with wildflowers and tall grass. The one on the left, seen from behind, has her hair braided with small flowers and wears a loose pink robe tied with a white bow; the one on the right faces the viewer, wearing a wreath of daisies and clover in her long fair hair and a pale sleeveless dress gathered with flowers at the hem. Warm evening light rakes across the meadow from the right, gilding the grasses and the standing woman's hair while leaving the turned figure in cooler shadow.
