About this work
A dense cluster of trees and shrubs occupies the right side of the canvas, growing along a low grassy bank above a broad expanse of calm water. The far shore is marked by a thin dark line of distant trees, while the water and sky above dissolve into an even expanse of pale golden light.
The palette is built almost entirely from warm creams and yellows against the near-black silhouette of the foliage, with only a few pale flecks of sky showing through the branches. Soft, blended transitions in the sky contrast with the more textured, dabbed brushwork of the leaves, creating a hushed, glowing atmosphere of early or fading light over water.
