About this work
Tall golden-brown grasses and reeds fill nearly the whole canvas, each stalk built from thick vertical strokes and scratched lines. Darker shrubby growth crowds the right edge, while a pale bluish-white band at the bottom suggests snow, mist, or still water beneath the grass. The horizon dissolves upward into a soft violet-grey haze with no sky detail visible.
The palette stays muted - ochre, gold, and umber against violet-grey - built up with dense, textured strokes and fine scratched marks that let underlying color show through. Light is diffuse and even, with no strong shadow, giving the whole surface a quiet, hazy, contemplative stillness.
