About this work
Two large sunflower seed heads, stripped of most petals, fill the canvas edge to edge and nearly touch at the center, their dry, curling petals and tightly packed spiral seed patterns rendered in close, textured detail. Spiky dried leaves and stems weave around the edges of the composition.
Ochre, cream and brown tones dominate, with fine graphite lines tracing the spiral geometry of the seed heads over thickly textured acrylic. The close-up framing and dry, autumnal palette give the study a quiet, contemplative, almost abstract intensity.
