About this work
A single continuous contour traces a head in profile: forehead, brow, eye, nose, lips and a squared-off jaw and neck. Behind it a few loose curved strokes indicate hair swept back and a wisp lifting off the crown, with the ear and a scribbled cluster of small dots marking freckles on the cheek.
Drawn purely in thin, unbroken pen line with no shading or fill, the sketch reduces the face to a few confident, economical marks on plain paper. The sparse, quick handling gives it a light, unlabored, almost doodled quality.
