About this work
A nude woman stands with her back to the viewer, weight shifted onto one hip, arms hanging loosely at her sides. Beside her a bearded man crouches low, his face turned up toward her, one hand raised near his temple and his body compressed into a tangle of cross-hatched lines and a patterned drape at his feet.
Rendered in black Indian ink, the woman's contour is drawn with a single confident, unbroken line while the crouching man is built from dense, scribbled hatching that thickens into shadow around his beard and torso. Spattered ink droplets anchor the scene to the paper, giving the loose, graphic sketch a raw, immediate energy.
