One nude figure lies sprawled across a rumpled couch, an arm draped loosely over the shoulder of a second nude figure who sits hunched forward, knees drawn to the chest and face pressed against clasped hands. A tangled, harp-like form curls at the far left edge, and a doorway and low furniture recede into darkness behind them.

Dense parallel and crosshatched lines build every plane of flesh and drapery in stark black and white, the paper left bare only where light falls strongest. The obsessive, linear technique gives the scene a brooding, introspective stillness.
