About this work
A tall angular structure, resembling a dock crane or ship's rigging, stands silhouetted against a thick bank of fog over open water. Rounded, cloud-like masses of green-grey suggest moored vessels or harbor vegetation to either side, while a pale warm patch glows faintly in the upper sky, breaking through the haze. Choppy, pale reflections ripple across the water in the foreground.
Blues, greys and muted violets dominate the composition, softened by loose, blended brushwork that dissolves solid forms into atmosphere. Warmer cream and rose tones concentrated at the center create a quiet focal glow amid the cool haze. The handling is loose and painterly, with wet-into-wet strokes producing a hushed, mysterious sense of a harbor wrapped in fog.
