About this work
A low bridge crosses a river at night, its dark silhouette and the faint shapes of a few pedestrians barely visible against a row of glowing lamps beyond. Thick fog swallows the buildings and trees behind the lights, leaving only smudges of illuminated haze above the water's dark, reflective surface.
Deep blue-greens and violet-greys dominate the composition, pierced by small dabs of warm yellow light that bleed softly outward. Thickly worked, hazy brushwork blurs every edge, and the low-toned palette combined with the diffused glow creates a hushed, mysterious nocturnal atmosphere.
