About this work
A house with a steeply pitched dark red roof fills the left foreground, its whitewashed wall partly screened by lush green trees and a red-flowering shrub at right. A pale dirt path curves downhill in the foreground toward a hazy strip of turquoise sea meeting a light sky at the top of the composition.
The deep red roof and greens of the foliage contrast with the soft blue-white of sea and sky. Thick, confident brushstrokes and visible canvas weave give the small work an immediate, sketch-like quality, while warm raking light suggests midday sun and a bright, airy coastal mood.
