About this work
Hard-edged blocks of red and black divide the canvas into an irregular grid, crossed by faint pencil rulings, stenciled characters ("F", "IO", "B10"), and a heavy dark diagonal beam-like form. A dim, half-hidden silhouette is barely visible at the lower right, emerging from the black field.
The surface combines flat matte passages of oil paint with scratched and incised pencil lines, giving a worn, industrial texture close to a collaged notice board. Warm red is set hard against cool black and pale cream, producing a terse, enigmatic mood far removed from any literal domestic interior.
