About this work
Saturated blocks of emerald, sky-blue and burnt orange are fitted together like stained glass across the canvas. A large olive-green mass curves across the upper half, its rounded edge suggesting a hunched profile, while a dark circular scribble loops through green and blue fields at lower left. A pale blue-grey form rises beside it, and a golden-yellow ribbon sweeps across the bottom edge.
Acrylic is applied thickly over the ivory ground, its surface pitted and cracked like fired glaze, with dark grout-like lines separating every color cell. The high-key palette of green, blue, orange and gold reads as bold and playful despite the rough, encrusted handling, giving the piece a lively, almost mosaic-like rhythm.
