About this work
Networks of fine scratched and cross-hatched lines build a dark, bristling mass across the center of the sheet, out of which a small pale circle glows like a distant light or eye. Above, a band of red sky holds the silhouette of a girdered tower or bridge, while the lower section is scored into a grid resembling netting or rippled water.
The print is worked almost entirely in scratched black lines over saturated red and olive grounds, with texture built through dense, repeated incisions rather than solid color. The result is a tangled, atmospheric image whose jagged, web-like marks and glowing central point create a tense, dreamlike mood.
