About this work
Jagged dark planes, suggesting steep slopes or industrial mounds, fill most of the sheet, scattered with torn white cut-out shapes that read as debris or illegible fragments. A section of taut wire-mesh netting overlays the surface diagonally, breaking up the forms beneath it. A narrow green band runs along the top edge, crossed by a single red diagonal line.
Built up in layered washes of black, grey and green with sparing red accents, the print favors flattened, overlapping planes over any illusion of depth. The mesh texture and torn marks give the surface a worked, collaged quality, as if scavenged materials were pressed into the plate. The effect is murky and unsettled, closer to an industrial ruin than a legible landscape.
