About this work
An ivory-cream ground carries a diagonal wedge of black and dark brown running from the upper right toward the center, crossed by scratched cursive lines, isolated letter-like marks, and incised numerals such as a faint "N4" and "0-20" near the lower left, as if handwriting has been scored into plaster.
The palette stays close to ivory, charcoal and warm ochre; thick oil is scraped back with a sharp tool to expose lighter layers beneath the dark overpaint, leaving a dry, tactile surface full of scratches and abrasions. The effect reads like an eroded inscription, quiet and enigmatic.
