About this work
Under a starry sky crossed by a jagged bright streak of light, three small human figures crouch and cower along a rocky shore, arms wrapped around themselves or faces hidden. At the water's edge on the right, a large scaly, crested serpent head emerges from the waves, staring toward them.
A deep black, stippled sky is broken by radiating white comet-light and star bursts, while the water and creature are built from dense wavy hatching. The stark contrast between the tiny huddled figures and the towering celestial and monstrous forms creates an ominous, apocalyptic tension.
