About this work
Vertical and rectangular fields of deep red, mustard gold and cracked cream interlock across the canvas, with a narrow strip of teal-green along the top right edge. A smaller cluster of gold, red and turquoise texture sits left of center, breaking up the larger flat panels.
The acrylic is applied thickly and worked into a cracked, blistered surface, especially in the pale cream areas, recalling aged plaster or a gilded panel. Warm red and gold dominate against small cool accents, and the rough, encrusted texture gives the abstract composition a worn, relic-like quality.
