About this work
Three large cylindrical white tanks with rounded tops stand in a row behind a low patterned concrete fence topped with coils of barbed wire; yellow pipes run down each tank to the ground, and a band of dark green trees rises behind the installation under a wide, textured sky.
The sky is built up in thick, ridged strokes of white and pale gray, almost sculptural against the flatter, smoother handling of the tanks and fence; cool grays and greens dominate, broken only by the yellow pipe lines and a small yellow square on the fence, giving the industrial scene a stark, brooding quiet.
