About this work
Seven round Christmas ornaments are arranged loosely across a pale, folded cloth or paper ground, each ball catching a soft highlight at its cap. Their surfaces show faint mottled patterns of gold, pale blue, pink and green, one darker sphere with a banded pattern set apart at lower right. Soft cast shadows anchor each ornament to the surface beneath.
The palette stays close to whites and creams, with only muted touches of color breaking the near-monochrome ground. Light is diffuse and even, softening edges so the ornaments seem to hover just above the textured surface. Thin, dry brushwork and subtle glazes give the composition a hushed, wintry stillness.
