About this work

A small ceramic jug with an orange-tinted rim stands beside a stack of pale cubic forms — a box set atop another — arranged on a flat, softly lit surface. The objects sit left of center, casting faint grey shadows across the tabletop, while the rest of the composition dissolves into an empty, atmospheric backdrop.

The palette is almost monochrome, built from chalky whites, warm greys and beige, with a single warm orange note breaking the cool restraint. Paint is applied in thin, scraped layers that expose the canvas weave, giving the surface a dry, plaster-like texture, and the diffuse light softens every edge. The mood is quiet and restrained, more a study of form than a conventional still life.
