About this work
Migrating birds sweep across the upper half of the composition above a horizontal band of muted earth and water, while a leafless tree with dark angular branches occupies the right edge. Below the birds, an irregular patch of bright mint-green paint hovers over the brown ground like a floating cloud or scent trail, its edges softening into the surrounding tones.
The palette stays restrained — greys, browns and dull blue — except for one vivid green shape, which reads as symbolic rather than literal. Thin, dry brushstrokes describe the birds and branches in quick calligraphic marks, while the green patch is built up in thicker paint, giving the picture a hushed, dreamlike quality centered on that single note of color.
