About this work
A multi-arched stone bridge with a pale balustrade spans the upper half of the canvas, dissolving into thick fog alongside low rooftops behind it. Below, heavy dark shapes suggesting arched piers or shadowed openings fill the lower half, with a small patch of pale blue visible near the base.
Muted greys and off-whites give way to near-black masses of shadow, all softened by extremely blurred, atmospheric brushwork that erases sharp edges throughout. Light seems to come from no single source, and the overall haze creates a damp, muffled, mysterious mood.
