Argamach

Looking down from a hillside, the view passes through a dense screen of bare, silhouetted trees and shrubs toward a cluster of snow-dusted wooden houses with pitched roofs, sheds, and fences. Beyond the rooftops, a hazy strip of fields and distant tree lines stretches toward a pale winter sky, the whole scene compressed into layered horizontal bands from foreground branches to far horizon.

Pastel strokes build the snow in cool lavender and blue-white tones, warmed by ochre, rust, and teal patches on the roofs and walls. The tangle of dark branches is drawn with quick, linear marks over the softer, blended passages of snow and sky, giving the small work an intimate, frosty stillness.
